Louisa Perry
Gimbie Adventist Hospital, Gimbie, Ethiopia

Clinical interest: General medicine

“An elective at Gimbie Adventist Hospital (GAH) enabled me to experience a completely contrasting clinical environment and healthcare system, cultural differences, ethical dilemmas and disease prevalence. GAH has 71 beds and is situated in the west of Ethiopia in a rural town surrounded by luscious green mountains. The majority of the population in and around Gimbie live below the international poverty line therefore many patients cannot afford the expense of medical treatment generating widespread frustration.”
