“You’d be forgiven for thinking that the role of a forensic pathologist was like the image portrayed in the television dramas Quincy or Silent Witness; or if you didn’t quite understand what the precise role of the coroner was. After all, we are not taught in the UK about these fascinating subjects as medical students. This is a shame because my 5 week medical elective in forensic pathology and coroner’s practice has shown me how interesting these specialities are.”
