Majuro Hospital Marshall Islands

Hospital description

There are two hospitals serving the Marshall Islands, Majuro Hospital and Ebeye Hospital. Of these, Majuro Hospital is the more prominent and acts as the tertiary care centre for the Islands. The hospital was built in the 1980s with funding from the USA and in addition to being the main tertiary care centre, it is also the primary care centre for most of Majuro.

The hospital departments include Internal Medicine, Surgery (and surgical specialities Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Urology and Ear, Nose and Throat), Obsetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Rehabilitation, accident and emergency, Pharmacy and Public Health. Due to the small size of the hospital, it is possible for students to complete both ward work and public health outreach work during an elective.
