The University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka is the largest hospital in Zambia and is located about four kilometres east of the capital city’s centre. The hospital serves an enormous population, with over one million people registered as living in Lusaka at the last census, which took place in 2000.
UTH is not only the largest hospital in Zambia, it is also the primary centre for medical training, covering tuition for medical students, medical interns, and postgraduate doctors. The hospital also provides training for nurses through the attached nursing school. The hospital provides a full range of primary, secondary, and tertiary health and medical services for both inpatients and outpatients and is the national specialist centre, recieving referrals from all over Zambia.
