Hospital description

Murchison is a busy, well run District (formerly Mission) hospital. It is situated on Main Harding and Kokstad road in South Coast of Kwa Zulu – Natal Province, 13 km from Port Shepstone town which is surrounded by number of shopping centres.
There are approximately 320 beds (of which about 100 are for facility based TB care) serving a population of approximately 200 000. This hospital presently offers the full spectrum of services including preventive, curative, rehabilitative and palliative care. Their staff team has 15 medical officers, 206 nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, audiologists, a dietician, a clinical psychologist, a social worker, counsellors and others.
The maternity unit carries out 2500 deliveries per annum, with a Caesar rate of 23%. We have a cadre of experienced doctors on board, all of which are talented generalists. Our doctor’s skills include family medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics, basic orthopoedics and anaesthetics.
