The Hospital Manuel De Jesus Subirana is located in the neighborhood of the same name of the departmental capital of Yoro. The land for the hospital was donated by Arturo R. Solomon, who sold the land to the hospital trustees. It was opened in 1970 under the government of General Oswaldo López Arellano.
In 2012 the government announced cuts to the staff at the hospital and as such it is now under-staffed. The hospital is also struggling financially and can at times, not have enough capital to fuel the ambulance. The hospital does however, reatin a number of specialists.
