The Gran Hospital Nacional is one of the most important hospitals in Paraguay. It is located in the central department, in the city of Itaugua, and has good screening programmes for pregnant women.
The hospital has previously participated in studies for infant retinopathy in underweight infants, a study that was run by the London School of Hygeine and Tropical Medicine, Vision 2020 and the International Centre for Eye Health.
