Hospital description

The Joseph Nathaniel France (Joseph N. France) General Hospital opened in November 1968 and offered a variety of services including; General Surgery, Medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics, Gynecology, Accident and Emergency, Laboratory and Radiology.

Since opening, the hopsital has undergone many changes, including changes to the physical structure due to hurricane damage. The hospital has been completely rebuilt and since these alterations and is now housed in a new building on the same location. Build work for the new hospital commenced in 2000 and resulted in an extension of services in the hospital utilising technological and medical advancements. These expanded services include; Ophthalmology, Physiotherapy, Intensive Care, Psychiatry, Advanced Diagnostic Testing and Emergency Medical Services.

The hospital also functions as a teaching institution for medical students and student nurses.
