The StreekziekEnhuis Nickerie (Regional Hospital Nickerie) is a regional hospital in the north-weatern coastal region of Suriname. The hospital is a regional hospital that serves a population of about 41,000 people spread over an area of about 5,300 square kilometres. The hospital routinely treats a variety of diseases, although tests conducted in 2012 showed that Dengue fever was on the rise when compared to tests taken in 2011.
The hospital has a fairly long history and has developed to continue to meet the needs of the growing population in the north west of Suriname. There are several departments and specialisms covered at the hospital, including gynaecology, surgery, paediatrics, radiology, psychology and physiotherapy. There are also five specialties that shuttle in from Parambiro regularly.
