The Gizo Hospital is the main referral hospital for the Western Province of the Soloman Islands, which has a population of circa 60,000. The hospital was opened in 1959, has three doctors and three wards – male, female and paediatric. It has one theatre and an outpatient department but caters for a wide variety of ailments, injuries and illnesses.
