The King Hussein Hospital is situated in the Balqa Governorate region of Jordan and is a fairly small public hospital; one of 29 in Jordan. It is a general, multi-specialty hospital serving around 400,000 people in the region. Around 40 percent of pregnant women arrive to the hospital having had no antenatal care and with multiple risk factors, such as anemia and hypertension. Many women also experience postpartum complications. A team at the hospital is currently working with USAID to ensure the hospital has as many systems ready to attend emergencies and prevent complications for pregnant women.
Salt, located in northwestern Jordan was once the capital of the country.
