Hospital description

Broken Hill is an isolated mining city in New South Wales and is known affectionately as the “capital of the Outback”. Broken Hill Base Hospital is New South Wales’ most remote medical teaching hospital serving as it is situated in a huge rural area, where there are some aboriginal communities. The Royal Flying Doctors are based here. It is undergoing modernisation and has most equipment such as a CT scanner. The nearest hospital for referrals is a six hour drive or one and a half hour Flying Doctor trip.
