It is the state’s largest maternity hospital and only referral centre for complex pregnancies, and oversees over 6,000 births each year, providing exceptional clinical expertise to the most vulnerable and unwell expectant mothers and babies.
There is an eighty bed Special Care Nursery at the hospital, which is the largest in the Southern hemisphere and which provides world class care for premature and sick infants. In addition, each year over 5,000 patients with gynaecological conditions are treated by expert hospital staff, who work at the forefront of women’s health.
