The Northern General Hospital, situated in the north of Sheffield, is home to the city’s adult Accident and Emergency department (the children’s Accident and Emergency Department is located at the Sheffield Children’s Hospital).
The Northern General Hospital is the largest hospital campus in Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and spans around 100 acres. Situated approximately three miles from the central campus, it is easily accessed via the M1 motorway, and is therefore a choice hospital for motorway emergencies in the vicinity.
The hospital employs more than 6,000 staff and, together with the other hospitals managed by Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, offers a wide range of specialist services including; orthopaedics, renal, heart and lung services and a state-of-the-art, purpose-built Spinal Injuries Unit.
