This hospital offers PJ and Famulatur placements.
Opened in 2001, the Jessop Wing is a specialist maternity hospital which has been built to cater for women’s medical needs and which sees the birth of approximately 7,000 babies each year. It is a £27 million development that brings together the old Jessop Hospital for Women and the women’s services that were previously provided at the Northern General Hospital. The hospital contains a 22 bed labour ward, three postnatal wards and an antenatal ward, as well as providing staff who oversee approximately 200 home births per year.
The Jessop Wing also provides neonatal intensive care and special care for sick and premature babies born in Sheffield and those transferred from other units who require this expertise. In additon to these maternity services the Jessop Wing also provides a Gynaecology Outpatient Clinic. The Gynaecology Service also includes two wards in the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, so students may have a chance to see both hospitals at work.
The Jessop Wing also has an Assisted Conception Unit for women who require this specialist treatment.
