St Thomas’s Hospital is part of the Guy’s and St Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trust and is, like Guy’s, a teaching hospital serving an extended community and dealing with some one million patients each year. The hospital plays a key role educating and training doctors, nurses and other health professionals and is also home to the Florence Nightingale Museum.
The hospital Trust is also affiliated with the King’s Health Partners one of only five Academic Health Sciences Centres in the UK, which is also attached to King’s College London (the contact point for electives at this hospital). An Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC) is an organisation which delivers health care to patients and undertakes health-related science and research, and which usually has a well developed role in teaching and education.
