The National Women’s Hospital, co-located with the Auckland City Hospital on the Grafton campus, is the largest women’s hospital in Australasia. The old hospital was moved to the co-located site in order to improve the facilities and it has been recently refurbished, which has improved the facilities further. The hospital provides maternal, ante/neonatal, gynaecology, fertility, and oncology services. Students are able to follow female patients through antenatal care to post-partum. The staff are very friendly and make students feel welcome.
The hospital is now under the mantle of ‘National Women’s Health’ due to the combination of these two hospitals and the removal of some services to the nearby Greenlane Clinical Centre. However, the services that were provided at the old National Women’s Hospital are still provided mainly at the Auckland City Hospital location, including; maternity, newborn, gynaecology and fertility care.
As a leading women’s health provider, National Women’s Health is dedicated to assisting the ongoing development of evidence based knowledge with world-class teaching and research activities.
