The Central Hospital is also known as The National Referral Hospital. This is an extremely busy place as it serves as the main hospital for the islands. Cases primarily see are tropical diseases such as TB, malaria, tropical splenomegaly and many others. It is the largest of the eight hospitals of the Solomon Islands. Staff are very friendly and keen to help. It has excellent teaching and is fairly laid back.
The Central Hospital is particularly strong on maternal and child health, so is a good choice for those interested in these specialist areas of medicine.
