The Royal Marsden Hospital was the first hospital in the world dedicated to cancer treatment and research into the causes of cancer. Today the hospital with its academic partner, The Institute of Cancer Research, forms the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe with over 40,000 patients from the UK and abroad seen each year.
The Trust provides inpatient, day care and outpatient services for all areas of cancer treatment.
The Royal Marsden do not offer a formal programme for supporting placements/electives and we suggest that you should contact one of the bigger teaching hospitals who may be able to help you. However, if your interest is specifically related to the oncology field you may wish to make contact directly with one of our Conulstants/Heads of Unit who may be willing to support a placement here under an honorary contract. Contact information can be found on our Internet site, please see the attached link. Look in ‘Consultants Teams and Wards’ and on the right of the page beneath ‘Find a Consultant’ you will find an A-Z list of consultants and a list of the Clinical Units here at The Royal Marsden. You will need to write to the Manager of this department with your queries and request. The estimated time for a reply to be sent to you would be between 4-8 weeks. There are no email options. You will need to send the letter to one of the branches where you would prefer to carry out your placement. Please choose one of the following addresses to send your letter to: Chelsea The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust Fulham Road London SW3 6JJ or Sutton The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust Downs Road Sutton Surrey SM2 5PT
