Restarted in 1993, after 10 years of closure this remote rural hospital is situated in south-western Assam bordering Tripura and Mizoram in northeast India. Last year about 65,000 out-patients were seen, 7000 admitted, 1800 deliveries conducted and 1400 major surgeries conducted. The hospital is focussed on the poor and has no private wards (total 100 beds). The large (350 acre) campus also has an English medium school, nursing school and agriculture activities. The hospital also has a branch in the Dhalai district of neighbouring Tripura.
The hospital has a well equipped operating room, X-ray (500 mA), ECG, colour Doppler ultrasound and well equipped laboratory.
