The Nicosia General Hospital started to operate in February 2006, replacing the Old Nicosia General Hospital. It is the largest state hospital on the island, located in the outskirts of Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus. It is the referral Hospital for Specialised clinics, i.e., Neurosurgical and Cardio-thoracic clinics. The attendance to the Accident and Emergencies (A&E) Department are around 110,000 per year, where the total amount for Cyprus comes to around 650,000. The A&E operates a Fly Squared Emergency Vehicle, which is staffed by a doctor in addition to the paramedics team and responds to calls in life threatening conditions.
The Hospital cooperates with Saint George University of London.
