The Kumudini Hospital is part of a charitable trust established to provide treatment for the rural poor. It is one of the largest private hospitals in the country. The hospital serves more than 400 patients a day. In addition to taking care of general patients, it provides family planning services and regular check up services for the pregnant women. It also has facilities for childbirth and maternal and child healthcare, a gynaecology unit and special units for treatment of diarrhea and tuberculosis.
The hospital has grown to its present size of 750 beds from a very modest beginning. Kumudini hospital provides treatment for almost all types of diseases and treats patients from all over Bangladesh, although a patient is only admitted to the hospital after a diagnosis with a doctor who deems admission is necessary.
The principal attraction of this charitable hospital is the high quality, free service that is provided; such a standard is not available anywhere else in the country despite several other charitable institutions being in existance.
