Part of the Waitemata District Health Board, the Waitakere Hospital is a small but closely knit and friendly hospital. It is situated in a newly constructed building in Henderson, north of Auckland. The hospital is located at the foot of the magnificent Waitakere Ranges and close to the black volcanic sand beaches of the west coast.
It was officially opened on 1 February 2005, providing acute inpatient services for the populations of Waitakere City and Kaipara Ki-Raro. Despite its small size, the hospital offers a wide range of services including an Emergency Care Centre, a Surgical Unit with two theatres and an endoscopy procedure room. It also hosts a Special Care Baby Unit and Maternity Unit, and deals with acute gynaecological cases and some urogynaecology services.
In addition to clinical servicdes, the hospital also provides community and complimentary services such as; physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech language therapy.
