Al Baraha Hospital is located in the Emirate of Dubai, which has six public hospitals; New Dubai Hospital, Rashid Hospital, Al Maktoum Hospital, Al Wasal Hospital, Al Baraha Hospital, and Al Amal Hospital. Together, these six hospitals have a collective built-in capacity of 1,717 beds.
Al Baraha is a government hospital which was set up in 1997, so much of its infrastructure is relatively modern and there are good resources available for cutting edge treatment. One of the older medical facilities in Dubai, this government hospital is commonly referred to as the Kuwaiti Hospital and is situated on the Deira side of the Shindagha Tunnel, on the right-hand side. Al Baraha is situated next to the New Dubai Hospital and also hosts a preventive medicine department, issues English Birth Cerificates and provides residence visa blood tests.
Dubai has also teamed up with Harvard Medical School to operate Dubai Healthcare City, a 435-acre state-of-the-art ‘centre of excellence’ for clinical and wellness services, medical education and research aimed at competing with low-cost healthcare providing countries in Asia.
