A small primary healthcare clinic run by an Irish NGO, with a Dutch doctor and varying numbers of volunteers. Billy Riordan Memorial Clinic is affiliated to the College of General Practitioners in Ireland.
The clinic provides primary medical care on an out-patient and in patient basis to a population of 15,000 rural dwellers. This is the only medical service in the area and to date more than 130,000 patients have been seen at the clinic.
Malaria, bilharzia, chest infections, fungal infections, arthritis and HIV/AIDS are amongst the conditions which are treated.
