The Western Isles Hospital (Scottish Gaelic: Ospadal nan Eilean Siar) is the only hospital that services the Western Isles off the west coast of Scotland. It is classified as a rural general hospital and is located in Stornoway on Lewis. The hospital is administrated by NHS Western Isles, which is the regional health board. The hospital has 212 beds and covers a range of specialties, including; general medicine, geriatrics, paediatrics, general surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology and psychiatry.
In addition to these permanent services, the hospital is supportted by specialist consultants who rotate in from Raigmore Hospital in Inverness; it is also covered by locum consultants. The majority of medical staff are junior doctors on rotation from Aberdeen (the associated medical school), and the hospital is notable for not having any specialist registrars. There are also dieticians, pharmacists, physiotherapists, podiatrists and radiographers based at the hospital.
