Cheltenham General Hospital is the hub of the Three Counties Cancer Centre, with a specialist Oncology Centre that is a centre of excellence for Gloucestershire, and takes in cancer patients from neighbouring Worcestershire and Herfordshire. The hospital has 16 wards, and contains a 24-hour accident and emergency department.
Cheltenham General’s state-of-the-art facilities also include breast-screening facilities, a new Interventional Radiology operating theatre, and a surgical robot for the treatment of prostate cancer.
Cheltenham General’s critical care was rated as outstanding by the Care Quality Commission, who also rated the hospital as good in the areas of caring, maternity and gynaecology, and services for children and adolescents. It has an award-winning cataract team, and its Diabetic Eye Screening Unit was the first of its kind in the UK.
