The Elliot Trauma Center provides twenty-four hour a day critical care services to Manchester and its surrounding areas. The Elliot therefore serves as a community resource and referral center for all regional trauma related cases and serves a vast number of patients. Approximately 800 major trauma cases are seen each year. As a reflection of its size and depth of resources, The Elliot Trauma Center is designated by the state of New Hampshire as a Level II facility. This means it conforms to standards defined by the American College of Surgeons, and sanctioned by state-level boards and departments of health. There is no higher level of trauma care than that defined for Level II facilities.
