There is a fully equipped lab, X-ray unit with an ultrasound scanner, CT machine, blood bank and four operating theatres. There is a busy orthopaedic department able to perform the full range of operations. All the departments are closely allied with the Chief Specialists in Greys Hospital, Pietermaritzburg.
In common with a lot of other KZN hospitals, the departments are run largely by part time specialists as well as experienced medical officers. As a result there are always vacancies for specialists.
