The Wahiawa Hospital Association was founded in response to the healthcare needs of the community following the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1944. It was later established as the Wahiawa General Hospital (WGH), which is a nonprofit, community hospital that serves the population of central Oahu. The main airport (Honolulu) is also located on Oahu. WGH is centrally located on the island of Oahu, serving the surrounding communities of Central Oahu and the North Shore.
The hospital offers state-of-the-art services and prides itself on being a community hospital, welcoming patients and their families for treatment. There are a range of services offered at the hospital and as a non-profit organisation the hospital is able to accept many patients. It also runs an active volunteers programme in which people can match their interests to skill sets required in the hospital, under appropriate supervision. Please see the web site for more information.
