The Jalalabad Ragib-Rabeya Medical College Hospital is a large 890 bed teaching hospital. The college to which the hospital is affiliated was opened in 1995. The hospital itself is well-equipped, with a modern surgical theatre and intensive care unit. The hospital provides training for both local students and interns. It has also begun to provide post graduate training to qualified doctors. This latter training programme is recognized by the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons for post-graduate study.
The hospital is located in the city of Sylhet, about 22.5 km from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. Sylhet is the land of saints and sufis and may be termed as the spiritual centre of Bangladesh.
