This Bon Secours Hospital opened its doors in 1915 and is now one of the leading Catholic hospitals in Europe, operated by the Bon Secours Sisters. During its century long history there have been a number of major developments that have contributed to the growth of the hospital. These developments include a dedicated oncology and pallative care unit which incorporates a full range of intravenous and oral cancer treatments. The Oncology Ward for the “Oncology Service and Palliative Care” has 23 inpatient beds for cancer patients only and 17 reclining chairs for outpatient chemotherapy and palliative care.

The hospital caters for some 18,200 admissions, and 29,000 outpatients attendances each year and is part of the Bon Secours Health System, the largest private healthcare network in Ireland, which includes hospitals in Dublin, Galway, and Tralee. The hospital has four major and two minor operating theatres. Services at the hospital include; cardiology, diagnostic imaging, nutrition and dietetics, histopathology, pharmacy, physiotherapy, respiratory medicine, angiography, cardiac rehabilitation, diabetes specialist services, intensive care, and oncology.
