Located in the northern part of Germany, the Klinikum Itzehoe provides core medical care to the population of 35,000. As a teaching hospital of the University of Lübeck, the University of Kiel, and the University of Hamburg the Kinikum plays an important part in teaching and training future doctors. Attached to the hospital is also an old people’s home. In addition to its more than 700 plan beds it has 75 beds for out-patients (20 places in the geriatrics clinic, 15 places in the psychiatric day clinic, 13 places in the day clinic for psychiatry and psychotherapy in Glueckstadt, 12 places in child and youth psychiatry, and 15 places in the psychosomatic day clinic.
The Klinikum has a special interest in neurology, with emphasis on stroke medicine.
