Gihundwe Hospital is a mission in the Cyangugu, Rwanda and is the referral centre for the entire Cyangugu region. This means that the hospital serves a population of approximately 70,000 people and treats some 7,200 people each year. The hospital has a special ward for premature babies, a project which began due to the number of still-births and early deaths in the surrounding areas. The Ministry of Health in Rwanda has now supplied two incubators and three additional members of staff to ensure the continuity of the work done on this ward.
The hospital also has a One Stop Centre for gender-based violence and child abuse, an institution that was funded by the UNFPA.
