Johnston Willis Hospital is one campus of the CJW Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. The other half of the medical centre is Chippenham Hospital. Johnston WIllis has some state-of-the-art equipment, including robotic surgery and Gamma Knife Perfexion equipment. The hospital is only the second in the state to get such equipment.
The hospital was recently accredited by the Joint Commission and is classified as a general medical and general surgical hospital. In 2010 the hospital became the first in the USA to receive the Brain Tumour certificate from the Joint Commission and was also the first in the state of Virginia to receive certification for high risk obstetrics. These certificates stand as recognition of the high standards and amount of effort that the hospital puts into patient care and additionally, demonstrate that there is investment in patient treatment programmes in these two areas. This is backed up by the state-of-the-art equipment used in the hospital’s neurosurgery department.
