A general district hospital located south of Munich, very close to the Austrian border. What is particularly striking about the hospital is the beautiful setting, adjacent to the Austrian Alps and with stunning landscapes.
It offers a state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic equipment in 17 specialised departments. In addition, there are wards for visiting doctors in ophthalmology, ear, nose & throat, orthopaedics, and maxillofacial surgery.
They house the well-known endogap Joint Replacement Institute in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Medical Center, which has been specialised in Major Joint Replacement Surgery for 45 years. It is ranked among the top five centers for joint replacement in Germany. The department of trauma surgery and sports medicine fulfills emergency care for alpine accident victims and sports injuries. There is a helicopter pad located right on the premises.
Since July 2007 the Medical Center runs a second center for Internal Medicine Murnau, a small town in 25 km distance, in the Hospital of the Associations for Accident Prevention and Insurance (BGU).
The hospital is associated with the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) and acts as a teaching hospital (Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr).
