The Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BNMC) is a consortium of healthcare, research and medical education institutions which are co-located on 120 acres in downtown Buffalo. The consortium is made up of leading organisations and has nine core members; The Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center, Buffalo Medical Group, Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute, Kaleida Health, the Olmsted Center for Sight, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, University at Buffalo and Unyts.
The BNMC came into existence in 2001 in response to a need for a co-ordinated development of local medical education, research and care provider institutions. Although previously loosly working together, it was identified that more progress could be made by centralising and co-ordinating the growing medical community. Hence the BNMC was formed and has steadily helped to improve the innovative aspect of healthcare in the Buffalo region.
