The Charleville Base Hospital is a small rural hospital, that provides medical care to a large area of Queensland via ambulance and Royal Flying Doctor Service links. The hospital is staffed by two GPs and rotating junior doctors. There are a variety of services offered at the hospital including surgery and indiginous health. There has been a hospital in Charleville for much of its history, and the old (original) hospital was rebuilt as a Base Hospital in 1939. A further medical base was installed in Charleville in 1943 when it was added to the Queensland network of flying doctor bases.
The hospital is 744 kilometres from Brisbane and is part of the South West Health Service district.
