The Nkope Health Centre is a small, privately funded medical centre on the southern shores of Lake Malawi. It haas previously received support via a Pope Bequest from the Anglican Church. $20,000 was set aside for its development and the clinic team keeps the congregation that made the donation informed as to hopw their donation is impacting upon the health of the local population. The hospital is very small, but is equppied with a consultation room, laboratory, and a pharmacy. It has few wards and these are used to provide bed care for men, women, children, obstetric and gynaecological care. There is also a HIV testing room and a public health room. The hospital has an association with the Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM).
Although the staff at the hospital work hard to provide a good standard of care, the hospital often runs short of supplies and the staff are stretched to meet patient needs.
