St Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital is in the north east health district of Jamaica and has been steadily upgrading its facilities throughout the last few years. Some of these upgrades have been attained through charitable donations by organisations such as the Adopt a Ward Foundation. The hospital is currently classified as a Type B hospital under the Jamaican healthcare system, but it is working toward Type A status.
The hospital also receives visiting teams of physicians from Florida (mainly from the Jackson Memorial Hospital) who expand the services offered at the hospital, and provide additional surgical support. These mission trips enable the hospital to provide surgical services that would otherwise be unavailable or too expensive to provide to the majority of patients at the hospital.
