The Singleton Hospital is located in Swansea and is part of the Abertawe Bro Morgannwg Health Board. It is a modern District General Hospital situated on Swansea Bay and adjacent to the campus of Swansea University. There are Acute General Medical, Care of the Elderly, General Surgical, Ophthalmology, ENT and Radiotherapy Departments in addition to High Dependency Unit, Coronary Care Unit and the Obstetric and Gynaecological Departments.
The hospital offers some sub-regional services and secondary services in addition to the general hospital profile. There is also a Maternity Unit and a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (recognised as a sub-regional Centre). Increasingly Obstetrics services are also being provided for complex cases in South West Wales. Singleton also has its own 24-hour Minor Injury Unit and Medical Assessment Unit.
The hospital also houses the sub-regional Cancer Centre and as such provides specialist Oncology services to South West Wales, as well as complex cancer cases within the other specialties onsite (e.g. Oral Maxillofacial, ENT, Colorectal, Upper GI). The South West Wales Cancer Institute and a separate Chemotherapy Day Unit are also at Singleton.
