The West Middlesex University Hospital is a major acute hospital in Isleworth, West London. It is a teaching hospital that provides a full range of hospital services to residents of the London Boroughs of Hounslow and Richmond upon Thames, and the surrounding areas. Although not directly affiliated with a particular medical school, the hospital provides support for many teaching NHS Trusts in London and students can be supported through rotations at the hospital.
The hospital’s services are split into four main divisions;- Women and Children’s Division: this includes one of the most highly regarded maternity services in West London, as well as providing a Sexual Health service, Gynaecology and a Children and Young People’s service. - Medicine Division: this includes a busy Accident and Emergency department, Chronic Disease Management programmes for conditions including diabetes and dermatology and a Medical Assessment Unit. There is also a dedicated Stroke Unit, older people’s care wards and rehabilitation.
- Surgery Division: this includes Orthopaedic and General Surgery (incorporating breast, colorectal, urology, ENT, paediatric surgery, surgical podiatry) and the hospital has a well appointed theatres suite. There is also a Critical Care unit.
– Clinical Support Division: this provides background support for front line services, including pathology, imaging, outpatients, health records and pharmacy.
