St Elizabeth Hospital, Shisong is run by the Franciscan Sisters and was the first cardio-surgical center in West and Central Africa. Shisong is in the remote North West Province, 100 km north of Bamenda, the nearest large town.

Shisong Hospital is part of the health care system of the Tertiary Sisters of St. Francis within the remit of the Catholic Church in Cameroon, and operates in line with the National Health Policies. It is committed to preventive as well as to therapeutic care. In this regards, the Institution reaches out to Health Posts outside its designated jurisdiction; such as Banten, Sabongida, Wvem, Wainamah, and Kouram. Within its Health Area, it attends to Kingomen and the Nso Palace.

The staff consists of Religious women, Religious men and Lay people, of various religious backgrounds and nationalities.
