Established in 1930, Jimma University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) is one of the oldest public hospitals in the country. Since its transfer of ownership to Jimma University, relentless efforts in renovation and expansion work have been made to improve its level of service, teaching and research.
The hospital is located in Jimma City (352 Km south-west of Addis Ababa) and it is currently the only teaching hospital located in the South-western part of Ethiopia. \it provides services for approximately 15,000 inpatients, 160,000 outpatients and 11,000 emergency cases from a catchment population of 15 million.
Subject to government support, there is a plan to make JUTH a 600 bedded hospital by September 2015.
