Zhongshan Hospital is a major teaching hospital locate in Shanghai. It is affiliated to the Ministry of Health of China and to the State Medical School of Shanghai. The hospital was founded in 1937 and at the time, it was the first large hospital run by the Chinese.

The hospital now covers an area of 95,892 sq. metres and has 356,206 sq. metres of buildings. Among its 3433 medical staff, the hospital has 437 professors, 1219 physicians, 1340 nurses, 401 technicians, 1 member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and 2 members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The hospital has 1700 beds and served 84,000 inpatients and 3,111,000 outpatients & emergency in 2013.

The hospital has all medical divisions, except pediatrics, and excels in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, liver cancer, renal and pulmonary diseases.
