Samsung Changwon Hospital (SCH) is the only university in Changwon, which has a population of 1.1 million.
The hospital opened in 1981 and was then known as the Masan Korea Hospital and was the biggest sized facility in the region. The hospital then opened the first heart center in the region in 1986 and a comprehensive medical testing center in 1989.
In 1995, after becoming affiliated with the global enterprise ‘Samsung’, it changed its name to the Masan Samsung Hospital. Since then it has acted as the educational hospital for Sungkyunkwan University College of Medicine, a university which holds the top rank amongst South Korean universities. In 2010, SCH made a new leap forward as the regional hub hospital of Sungkyunkwan University and Samsung Medical Center.
