Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan, the new Local General Hospital for Blaenau Gwent, was opened in December 2010. The hospital is the first publicly funded hospital in the UK with single rooms, all with en suite facilities. Fittingly, the hospital was the first hospital in the UK to be named after Aneurin Bevan, the founder of the NHS.
Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan has 96 in-patient beds and also incorporates an adult mental health unit with outpatient, day care and an 11 bedded in-patient facility.
The hospital also has an out-patient department, a dedicated minor injuries unit, enhanced diagnostic support and a comprehensive therapies department.
