Welcome to Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr, Caerphilly Borough’s new Local General Hospital.
Many services previously only available at The Royal Gwent Hospital, Prince Charles Hospital and The University Hospital of Wales will now be available for local residents right here in Ystrad Mynach. Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr has replaced the 85 year old Caerphilly Miners’ Hospital, Ystrad Mynach Hospital Ty Sirhowy Mental Health Unit and smaller community hospitals in the area with the most up to date health facilities.
The hospital has 269 beds, all in single ensuite bedrooms which will help to provide high quality care, reduce hospital acquired infection rates and give patients the privacy and dignity they need. The hospital also has a Nurse-led Minor Injuries Unit within a 24-hour local emergency centre, integrated mental health unit, and provides day surgery, and comprehensive diagnostic, outpatient and therapy services.
The new hospital is at the heart of plans being developed by Aneurin Bevan Health Board and Caerphilly County Borough Council (CCBC) to improve health and social care for the local population.
The hospital also has Consultant and Midwife antenatal and postnatal care
Maternity Services and Midwifery led birthing unit for women who are likely to have normal deliveries, with single ensuite delivery, aftercare rooms and water birth facilities.
