The Waikato District Health Board (Waikato DHB) is one of New Zealand’s most progressive publicly-funded health organisations. It is responsible for funding and providing services to achieve good health and independence for the 320,000 people living in the Waikato district of North Island, New Zealand.

The hospital is situated in the city of Hamilton. Originally opened in 1886, this regional base hospital provides world-class tertiary medicine and is the largest single site hospital in New Zealand, providing specialist and emergency care to the people of the Midland region of North Island. The hospital is a specialist emergency centre with a dedicated helipad, and over the last two decades has undergone extensive extensions and upgrades to cope with rising demand for services in the Waikato. These extensions have allowed the hospital to put in place cutting edge technologies and improve the flow of patient care.
