North Manchester General Hospital is a large NHS hospital, which is part of the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. The hospital has an accident and emergency unit with a separate paediatric A&E , a maternity unit, a high dependency unit and a mental health wing. It is also the base for the region’s specialist infection disease unit.
The hospital is located in Crumpsall, which is 3.5 miles north of Manchester City Centre. The hospital has undergone extensive work to improve its size and layout in recent years and has received an investment of £35m in the Women and Children’s department, which now offers a level 2 neonatal unit, maternity, labour and children’s wards.
